3 Days in Rhodes: The Ultimate Itinerary

The Perfect Mix of History, Beaches & Hidden Gems. Here’s exactly how we spent our long weekend in Rhodes.

Rhodes is one of those Greek islands that has it all. Medieval history, crystal-clear beaches, charming villages, lively beach clubs and breathtaking viewpoints. We spent three days exploring the island and managed to experience both its vibrant atmosphere and some of its most beautiful natural spots.

Here’s exactly how we spent our long weekend in Rhodes.

Day 1 – Discovering Rhodes Old Town

We landed in Rhodes and headed straight to our hotel before making our way to the UNESCO-listed Old Town.

Walking through its narrow cobbled streets feels like stepping back into medieval times. Built by the Knights of Saint John in the 14th century, Rhodes Old Town is one of the best-preserved medieval cities in Europe and is surrounded by impressive stone walls stretching almost 4 km.

One of our favourite experiences was walking along the city walls. The elevated walk offers a completely different perspective of the old city, with panoramic views over the rooftops, the Palace of the Grand Master and the harbour beyond.

Other highlights you shouldn’t miss include:

• Exploring the Palace of the Grand Master

• Walking along the Street of the Knights

• Visiting the Archaeological Museum

• Shopping for local products and handmade souvenirs

• Enjoying a traditional Greek dinner in one of the hidden courtyards

After sunset, the Old Town transforms into a lively place filled with restaurants, bars and music.

Evening at Ronda Beach Club

We ended our first day at Ronda Beach Club.

The atmosphere was fantastic, with stylish décor, DJs playing throughout the evening and beautiful sea views. It definitely has a luxury beach club vibe that’s perfect for sunset drinks.

While we found the prices on the higher side and the service could have been more attentive, we still enjoyed the experience. Sometimes you’re paying for the atmosphere as much as the food or drinks—and Ronda certainly delivers on that.

Day 2 – Beach Day & Sunset Cruise

Our second day was all about relaxing.

We spent the morning at Elli Beach, one of Rhodes Town’s most popular beaches. With crystal-clear water, comfortable sunbeds and plenty of restaurants nearby, it’s an easy place to spend the entire day.

One thing that stood out was the atmosphere. Great music played throughout the day, the food was surprisingly good, and there was a relaxed summer vibe that made it difficult to leave.

Sunset Cruise

In the afternoon we joined a sunset cruise, and honestly, it became one of the highlights of the trip.

Watching the sun slowly disappear over the Aegean while sailing along the coast is an unforgettable experience. We stopped for a swim, enjoyed incredible views from the boat, and experienced Rhodes from a completely different perspective. If you’re planning a sunset cruise, I’d recommend checking the weather forecast beforehand. We had a particularly windy evening but it was still one of the highlights of our trip.

Day 3 – Exploring Rhodes Beyond the City

For our final day, we booked a private island tour with Hop In Rhodes, which turned out to be the perfect way to discover some of the island’s most famous landmarks without worrying about driving or planning routes.

Our itinerary included:

Kallithea Springs

Famous for its beautifully restored Italian architecture and turquoise waters, Kallithea Springs is one of the island’s most photogenic locations. Whether you want to swim, snorkel or simply admire the scenery, it’s a wonderful first stop. Keep in mind that there is a small entrance fee per person, even if you’re only visiting the beach, as the area is considered an archaeological monument.

Anthony Quinn Bay

Named after the famous actor who fell in love with the area while filming The Guns of Navarone, Anthony Quinn Bay is known for its emerald water and rocky coastline. It’s one of the most beautiful swimming spots in Rhodes.

Tsambika Church

Perched high on a hill overlooking the coastline, Panagia Tsambika Monastery rewards visitors with some of the most spectacular panoramic views in Rhodes. Reaching the top requires climbing around 300 steps, but every single one is worth it for the breathtaking scenery.

The monastery is also one of the island’s most important pilgrimage sites. According to local tradition, Panagia Tsambika is believed to help women who are struggling to conceive, and many couples visit to pray for fertility. It’s said that children born after this blessing are often named Tsambikos (for boys) or Tsambika (for girls) in her honour.

Seven Springs (Epta Piges)

One of Rhodes’ greenest locations, Seven Springs offers a completely different landscape. Walking through the famous tunnel and enjoying the peaceful forest surroundings is a refreshing break from the beaches.

Lunch in Stegna

After a busy morning of sightseeing, we stopped in the charming seaside village of Stegna for lunch at Stegna Kozas Seafood Restaurant⁠.

Fresh seafood, authentic Greek dishes and stunning sea views made it the perfect place to recharge before continuing our journey.

Lindos

We finished our trip in Lindos, and what a way to end it.

Its whitewashed houses, narrow alleyways and iconic Acropolis create one of the most recognisable landscapes in Greece. Whether you’re wandering through the village or admiring the view over St. Paul’s Bay, Lindos is simply unforgettable.

Final Thoughts

Three days were enough to fall in love with Rhodes, but definitely not enough to see everything.

From wandering through one of Europe’s best-preserved medieval cities to swimming in hidden bays, sailing into the sunset and exploring picturesque villages, Rhodes offers an incredible variety of experiences for every type of traveller.
